QUIJOTES EN NUEVA YORK

Don Quijote en Nueva York

By Jean Philippe Dury

In Don Quijote en Nueva York, Jean Philippe Dury reinvents the timeless myth of the errant knight, transporting Don Quixote to the vibrant and captivating streets of New York. On a stage transformed into a pixelated universe and virtual reality, five artists embody the different facets of this legendary hero, each reflecting a part of his idealism, madness, courage, and unrelenting quest for meaning.
With the renowned cellist Iris Azquinezer, who creates an original and immersive 4D soundtrack, this creation plunges the audience into an unprecedented sensory experience, where every note and movement creates an enchanting illusion. The artists, carefully selected for their unique talents, blur the boundaries between contemporary dance and breakdance to deliver a striking choreographic language where audacity and vulnerability collide in a vision of complete freedom.
Don Quijote en Nueva York invites the audience to live a waking dream, a journey where an uncertain future is shaped by our own ideals. Partnering with Madrid Produce to push the limits of live performance and 3D technology, Jean Philippe Dury marked a turning point in the exploration of new artistic possibilities. This piece is a bold and captivating challenge, ready to astonish programmers and audiences worldwide.

The new poetry of the body, the unspeakable, the invisible, emotions, memories…

EBB Dance Company brings Jean-Philippe Dury and Marco Goecke together for the first time in this double bill program, Renaissance. With this performance, Dury returns back to his artistic past, his eclecticism, and gets carried away by his unique sense of aesthetics. Renaissance maintains a pure neoclassical body dramaturgy keeping an open dialogue with other art forms and choreographic language with the purpose of bringing a unique sense of today’s dance to audiences worldwide.

Dury’s The Hidden Beauty revisits the tale of Sleeping Beauty and turns the story around into a playful and dreamlike choreography. In Nichts, Marco Goecke makes us travel through his emotional universe with his unique language on Jimi Hendrix and Keith Jarret’s compositions.

Elegance, precision and fluidity are the hallmarks of Elephant in the Black Box. After his presentation last year and his tour by New York, Houston, Seoul or Bangkok, Jean-Philippe Dury releases a work that positions him as one of the most interesting choreographers today. After his stage as a performer in prestigious companies such as the Paris Opera, the Ballet de Monte-Carlo and the Compagnie Nationale de Danse. Here, he shows a very theatrical dance piece that awakens us at times and recalls the works of Pina Bausch. A creator with a great future.
